Here at Maleny Botanic Gardens & Bird World we take sustainability seriously indeed – caring for the environment is one of our four key values:

Environmentalism – committed to a sustainable future
Sustainability is an important value to the business, from solar panels on the roof, regional sourcing of food products and merchandise, to receiving left-over fruit and vegetables from the local Woolworths in Maleny to provide a balanced diet for our 600 birds.

It is our aim to achieve Eco Tourism accreditation through Eco Tourism Australia and we are adjusting our practises where needed. This is an exciting path for us, and ensures we have an internationally recognised accreditation.

We ask our visitors to do their part when visiting our beautiful grounds, this includes:
–          No feeding of wild animals and birds
–          No littering – please use the bins provided and take your rubbish with you after a picnic
–          Recycle – please use the recycling bins provided
–          Be water wise – we operate on tank water, so please do not run taps unnecessarily and use the half toilet flush when possible
–          Please do not to purchase merchandise derived from rare and threatened species from other sources
–          Please be mindful of the environment even outside this beautiful place – principles and practises of sustainability should be a lifestyle!
